Richard Bishop (Derek Potts) is director of the Central Intelligence Agency in the U.S. government and is the head man in regards to national security of the United States. That includes when extraterrestrial happenings occur on US territory. Richard believes in protecting and guarding civilian life from these "outside invaders".

Derek Heath Potts (born 1971) is a trial lawyer, entrepreneur and actor who has been involved in the entertainment industry for many years as an investor, producer and actor. He was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. His ancestry is French (mother) and Welsh (father). He started public speaking and debate at the age of 12 and was a member of his high school and college debate teams. He went onto law school and has since participated as a trial lawyer in some of the largest and most controversial litigations of the past decade and is the Founder and Managing Partner of Potts Law Firm, LLP, a national litigation firm based in Houston, Texas. His role in The Last Astronaut will be his first feature role.
